District 48 Fine Arts Coordinator's Role

Goals:
To work with teachers, principals, students, parents, and community members in building, supporting, and promoting strong, vibrant Fine Arts programs throughout the district.


2005/2006 Objectives
-Create and distribute a "Fine Arts Survey" in order to assess the strengths, challenges, and needs in the Fine Arts at each school in the district
-Invite teachers to participate in professional dialogue through Arts Educators’ Forums. Topics could include sharing best practice, discussion around the challenges facing the Fine Arts teacher, resource sharing, and inservice needs.
-Fine Arts team-building, perhaps leading to the creation of a Fine Arts Teachers association or district Fine Arts steering committee
-Continued partnerships with community arts groups
-District arts festivals or showcases including all four disciplines: dance, drama, music, and visual art
- Collaborate with district coordinators and community groups to create an up-to-date events calendar in order to help schools plan and implement fine arts activities more easily.
- Set up and maintain a district Fine Arts page on the district website
